No Front-End Loads,

 Fees or Sales Charges

There are no front-end loads, fees or sales charges of any kind.  however, most variable annuities have a charge if you have a to cash out in the early years.  This charge will typically begin at about 5% to 7% of your investment amount in the first year and decrease each year so that after 5 to 7 years it completely disappears.  So because there are no front-end charges of any kind, 100% of your initial investment goes to work for you immediately.

Sub-account inside a Variable Annuity have management fees that will vary based on the expenses of each sub-account.  Other charges from the insurance company may include an annual contract maintenance charge which averages about $30 per year and an asset fee which averages about 1.4%.  This latter charge usually provides for a guaranteed death benefit (see Death Benefit page) and a guaranteed income, if you choose, that you can't outlive.  In exchange for these modest charges you receive the significant tax advantages unique to annuities.
